Evergreen 55+
Evergreen 55+ is a social group that meets monthly throughout the year. Open to all age 55 and over, meetings are typically held the third Monday of each month in the Parish Activity Center (PAC). Monthly gatherings are centered around a potluck dinner starting at 5:30 PM followed by a short business meeting, the evening always concludes with entertainment or an educational program.
The Evergreen social group was formed during the 1990’s when a small group of parishioners spontaneously gathered to come up with an activity that seniors in the parish could be involved in. Orginally, the group gathered for a potluck dinner and fellowship however shortly after its conception, a buisness meeting at formal program was added. The idea was to keep seniors active in the parish by providing a group that they could participate in.
Past programs have included: entertainment (musical groups, sing-alongs, games, etc.) or education (Medjugorje, Guadeloupe, Rock Island Arsenal, etc.). Programs on parish related organizations have also been presented (Lourdes Catholic School, Catholic Endowment of Bettendorf, etc.). A recent highlighted program was “Are you smarted than a 5th Grader” hosted by the Lourdes 5th grade Girl Scouts.
